Why do so many students fail in college?
Some of the following are reasons why they did not succeed in the first place: lack of motivation, poor study habits, lack of confidence, inability to plan study time, illness, too much outside employment, and failure to make basic academic and social adjustment.
First Few Things a student should stop thinking offff :
Dont ever think you’re not ‘gifted’… Be satisfied with what you have the more you suffer more is the chance to succes “you must trust the power within you”
Dont think you’re not ‘lucky’.. coz only you create your own luck.
Dont think you’re not talented. talent is hardwork if you work hard it definetely paysoff dont giveup..
Being a college student isn’t a walk in the park these days. The pressure to succeed in everyone of your classes can be stressful, and time consuming. You have exams tomorrow, an a lab exam due the next day, and Internals. Are they crazy? How will you get all your studying done?
Don’t panic. There are some secrets to good studying. If you follow them, you’ll be able to handle your exams with confidence.
1. Good study techniques begin in class as you take notes. Note-taking helps you remember what you were taught or what you’ve read about.
Some keys to note-taking are to write down facts that a lecterer mentions or writes on the board during the lecture. If you miss something, ask your lecterer to go over facts with you after class. Other keys to good note-taking are keeping notes organized by subject and making sure notes are easy to read and review.
2. After taking lecture notes, you should review and edit them so you can understand the important points six weeks from the time they were taken. You should correlate(relate/match)) your lecture notes with the appropriate textbook readings, lab experiments, and outside references. You should review your notes regularly and develop questions as you do so. This will help at test time to formulate the same types of questions that the lecterer may ask.
3. Time management: When you sit down to study, think about how much time you want to devote to each topic. This will keep you from getting overwhelmed. If it’s Monday, and you’ve got three exams on Friday, figure out how much time you need for studying between now and then. Then figure out how long each subject will take.
Scheduling saves time. By making a weekly schedule in advance you know exactly what to study and when to study it. A schedule also eliminates worry and confusion about what is coming next; it’s right there in the right time.
Schedule study time for a course as near as possible to the time of the class. schedule at least one hour of study and review as soon after class as possible.
4. The most important step is finding where and when to study. This is the most important step because your ability to focus on the specific task ahead is of very high importance. You need to develop a plan of when to study and where to study. Find what works for you and stick to it, if you like a quiet place to study then develop that quiet place. The key is to try different things and stick to what works best, try and figure that out.
5. The next tip is to develop study habits early. ” There is no substitute for daily preparation.” Developing those good study habits early on will have an enormous benefit. The process of becoming a good student doesn’t happen over night but you have to be willing to try and stick to a plan no matter what. Reviewing your notes everyday after class will help you cement the material to memory and then when test time comes around that material will be fresher in your mind thus requiring less time that you need to study. Review your notes everyday and again develop this habit today and commit to it everyday.
6. Another study technique is breaking large topics down into small parts
